Margaret Stracener was born Abt. 1816 in Madison County, Mississippi Territory. The 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 US censuses of St. Clair Co., AL enumerated Margaret (Stracener) Robertson as having been born in Alabama and technically that is correct. (NOTE: The Territory of Mississippi was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from 07 Apr 1798 until 10 Dec 1817, when the western half of the territory was admitted to the Union as the State of Mississippi and the eastern half became Alabama Territory until its admittance to the Union as the State of Alabama on 14 Dec 1819.) Each census mentioned above, by her successive recorded ages, indicates she was born in Madison Co., Mississippi Territory, an area that would become part of the state of Alabama on 14 Dec 1819 at statehood. See the memorial dedicated to her mother, Elizabeth Brashear Stracener, for the full complicated story of this pioneer family.

Margaret married William Fendol Robertson (aka Fendal) on 26 Jun 1834 in St. Clair Co., AL (see attached certified marriage certificate/license).

The first US Census that Fendal Robertson (age range 20-29; actual age about 24 Y/O) appeared in was the 1840 of St. Clair Co., AL. His wife's, Margaret Stracener, age range in this census was 20-30; her actual age was about 24 Y/O. There were three female children enumerated in the household; 2 under 5 Y/O and one in age range 5 thru 9 Y/O.

The 1850 US Census of St. Clair Co., AL enumerated the household of 34 Y/O William Fendol Robertson, a farmer born in S. C., and his 36 Y/O wife, Margaret (Stracener) Robertson, born in AL. Also living in the household were their children: 15 Y/O Louisa E. Robertson; 12 Y/O Sarah A. Robertson; 11 Y/O Martha Adline Robertson; 8 Y/O John M. Robertson; 6 Y/O Frances M. Robertson; and 4 Y/O William M. Robertson. In the 1850 US Agricultural Production Census, "Fendell" was recorded as owning 120 acres of land in St. Clair Co., AL.

The last will and testament of Michael Stracener is dated 05 Jan 1855 and was performed in Royal Township, White County, Arkansas. He mentions his sons, William, Jefferson, Hiram, Lewis and Jonathan and his daughters, Easter (Esther), Elizabeth and Mary (Source: White County, AR Will Index 1853-1869 (Vol. "A"), Page 26; see the FAG Memorial of Elizabeth Brashear Stracener for a copy of Michael Stracener's 05 Jan 1855 will.

In his last will and testament, Michael Stracener doesn't mention his daughter, Margaret Stracener, who married William Fendol Robertson. A 17 Sep 1856 extant gift deed executed in White County, AR gives as a gift from Michael Stracener to his seven named children all of his chattel and real estate in Alabama. For some reason this gift deed doesn't mention Michael's son, Jonathan, who was mentioned in his 1855 will but fortunately this deed does mention Michael Stracener's daughter as; "Margaret Robertson, wife of Fendal Robertson". This is proof of the father/daughter relationship between Michael and Margaret Stracener. A discussion of this deed is found on the memorial of Michael Stracener's wife, Elizabeth Brashear Stracener. A copy of this 17 Sep 1856 gift deed, whose original is located in the courthouse of Ashville, St. Clair County, Alabama, is attached to this memorial. NOTE: This gift deed states that Michael Stracener appeared in person for this 17 Sep 1856 which confirms her died after this date. His FAG memorial records his death date at the time of this writing as 20 April 1856.

The 1860 US Census of Cropwell, St. Clair Co., AL enumerated the household of 44 Y/O Fendol Robertson and his 45 Y/O wife, Margaret (Stracener) Robertson. Also living in their household were their children: 18 Y/O John M. Robertson; 16 Y/O Frances M. Robertson; 13 Y/O William M. Robertson; and 9 Y/O Mary J. Robertson. In the 1860 US Agricultural Production Census, Fendol was recorded as owning 320 acres of land in St. Clair Co., AL. NOTE: Living in the household next door in 1860 was 21 Y/O William Robert Abercrombie, a farmer, and his 19 Y/O wife, Martha Adline (Robertson) Abercrombie. Also in the household was their 7 months old son, John Henry Thomas Abercrombie. Martha Adline (Robertson) Abercrombie was the daughter of William and Margaret (Stracener) Robertson who married William Robert Abercrombie on on 13 Aug 1857 at St. Clair Co., AL.

The 1870 US Census of Cropwell, St. Clair Co., AL enumerated the household of 52 Y/O William Fendol Robertson and his 53 Y/O wife, Margaret (Stracener) Robertson. Also living in the household was their 24 Y/O son, William M. Robertson, a student. The 1870 US Agricultural Production Census, Fendol was recorded as owning 75 acres of land in St. Clair Co., AL.

The 21 Jun 1880 US Census of St. Clair Co., AL enumerated the household of 63 Y/O William Fendol Robertson and his 64 Y/O wife, Margaret (Stracener) Robertson. In the 1880 US Agricultural Production Census, Fendal was recorded as owning 300 acres of land in St. Clair Co., AL. Fendol Robertson died on 24 Jun 1886 and Margaret Robertson's unknown death date is after 1880. Her grave is unmarked or was originally marked with a now missing field stone.

William Fendol and Margaret (Stracener) Robertson had the following children:
1) Louisa E. Robertson, b. Abt. 1835 AL.
2) Sarah A. Robertson, b. Abt. 1838 AL.
3) Martha Adline Robertson, b. 17 Apr 1739 St. Clair Co., AL, d. 02 Nov 1913 Jefferson Co., AL.
4) John M. Robertson, b. Abt. 1842 AL.
5) Frances M. Robertson, b. Abt. 1844 AL.
6) William M. Robertson, b. 10 Mar 1847 AL.
7) Mary J. Robertson, b. Abt. 1851 AL.

All proven descendants of Margaret (Stracener) Robertson are eligible for the "Alabama Genealogical Society's" certificate program of "First Families of Alabama". Due to my efforts, she was accepted for this honor on 15 Mar 2016.
